Hard work

After a day of hard work I have my tree house model complete. Loving it, wish it was reality. Maybe I'll make it a bird house when we're finished with the project?

greatest. night. ever.

Last night was quite possibly the greatest night of my life thus far.  I got to meet one of my favorite musicians of recent from Cage the Elephant.  It was totally worth barely being awake during class today — sorry Jeremy.

As far as my tree house goes, I've got my plans figured out so now I am going to work on a way to represent it to the class for Tuesday.  This project is a lot of fun :)

Well, here are a couple pictures of my treehouse ideas thus far. My concept is a treehouse for a passer-through, a gypsy soul. I really love what I've got so far and I'm still working!

So tonight I am listening to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros in order to be in the right mind set to create my mood board.  I'm going with a gypsy inspired theme and persona.  Here are a few beautiful images I've found in my search.

Meet my tree

It is a beautiful tree with branches on only one side of it's trunk. I'm not sure what my persona is just yet, but I can picture this tree out in the open with nothing else around. I also was immediately inspired with an overall shape for the tree house. I'm very excited for this project and can't wait to dive in.

P.S. thanks for this assignment today... not.  Don't get me wrong, I am extremely excited — too excited! But I have a physics test tomorrow I realllllllly need to be studying for; however, all I want to do is draw my tree and tree house.  It's a good problem to have, I guess :)

Also going on in my world tonight:  Bright Eyes released a new album today and I am beyond excited to sit here (or maybe outside while it's still nice) and just listen.  From what I've heard so far, this album is sounding very "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning"ish.  So, I'm thrilled!  If your a fan, be sure to pick up a copy.  (The Deluxe Ed. cd packaging is way cool).

This afternoon we tested out our initial signs and it went really well!  We had at least three random people in the building tell us the signs looked great/they were much needed/we should keep them up.  It was great to hear that!  We also tested them and got some feedback on how to improve the signs further so I guess that is our next step.  Now we've just got to get ready for our presentation Thursday.

so... I know this is for design, but I like talking about music, too.  So get over it.  Last night I got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet The Decemberists and see their soundcheck before their concert.  It was one of the greatest days (and I'm kinda not sorry I missed class for it).  I was also super impressed with the opening group — Mountain Man.  Check them out, the music is beautiful.

As far as design goes... the project is going well.

presentation

Today we presented our project thus far and we got some good feedback.  It looks like we are on the right track.  So for Tuesday's class my group is going to sketch some ideas for signs in the building and then in class I think we'll make our signs.  We're so on top of it.
