chair chair chair chair

So I've chosen the inspiration behind my chair.  After deciding to try and interpret the flower chair (one post below) I looked up origami flowers.  I found images like these:

From there I tried to develop a way to get the same look but with more than just one piece of cardboard (as it would be impossible to fold up cardboard into these shapes).  Here is my first paper model:

And finally here is my next model in cardboard:  It is made with about five 8" circles.  When I attempt to make my larger chair I may add more circles in.  I also need to figure out if I am going to slant the chair at all to make it easier to sit in.  If so, I need to figure out how to do that...

Chair.  Here is a beautiful one.  I am presenting it in class today.

This chair, Bloom, was designed by Kenneth Cobonpue.

holy day

So today is the most sacred day of the year in my world — Record Store Day.  I got a late start today after a long night, so I missed out on the whole experience of standing in line for a couple hours until opening and then being able to have my pick of the albums released.  However there were a couple gems left by the time I arrived.  I got the new Fleet Foxes release and a 7" Flogging Molly for $4!  Who could pass that up?

I also had the bestest friend ever in OP pick me up the KOL Holy Roller Novocain (don't hate til you've heard) and Greatful Dead re-releases.  So all in all it was a successful Record Day.  I did not, however, get my number one most wanted item — Manchester Orchestra's "Simple Math."  Oh well, I may be ebay-ing that.  If you have time today to stop by your local record store do it! And if they have MO, pick me up a copy :) Please.

Anyway, today I am working on finishing the second copy of my book and putting my process notebook together.  Here are a few images of my final book:

Don't hide my eyes

I wanna see.
Don't hide my ears,
I wanna hear.
Don't hide my tongue,
From anyone,
I wanna tell, heaven and hell.
I won't hide my heart,
It won't break apart.

A couple photos from the beautiful sunset tonight.  I want to grow my vocabulary just so I have more words to describe this beauty.

late-breaking news

so this is what happens when you are working on a project with an exacto knife AND watching a movie at the same time.  I almost passed out when I saw the blood.  Not cool exacto knife, not cool.

But, the pain was all worth it I think: here is my book model —

suggestions? thoughts? anyone out there? (It's cool — I know no one but maybe Jeremy occasionally reads this.  I'm not delusional, but I like to pretend sometimes, OK? Cool.)
